Part W11724692 Refrigerator Temperature Sensor Thermistor

Purpose

Monitors air temperature within the refrigerator and freezer cavities.

Details

The refrigerator thermistor acts as an electronic temperature sensor that systematically changes its internal electrical resistance based on climate fluctuations inside the appliance. Connected directly to the main electronic control board, it continuously relays accurate data regarding the internal air conditions of the fresh food or freezer compartments. The control board uses these real-time signals to regulate the cooling and defrosting cycles by turning the compressor, evaporator fan, and defrost heater on or off. Over time, internal sensor degradation or continuous moisture exposure can cause the thermistor to drift out of calibration or short out entirely. Common symptoms of a failing thermistor include a refrigerator running too warm, a freezer that won't cool properly, the evaporator fan running constantly, food freezing in the fresh food section, or temperature-related error codes appearing on the display interface.

Included Items

Includes one genuine OEM refrigerator thermistor sensor capsule with wire leads. Depending on the specific model, wire cutters, electrical tape, or a nut driver may be needed to complete the splice or housing installation.

Compatible Brands
